CALIBER Scholars Training Program

Details for Cohort 2 Call for Applications
CALIBER is implementing the CALIBER Scholars Program, a 2-year training and mentoring program for early-stage investigators. The objective of the Scholars Program is to support early-stage investigators who are engaged in alcohol and HIV research and who are committed to working with populations carrying the burden of HIV and unhealthy alcohol use so they may apply for future external NIH funding.

In 2027, scholars will be selected to join the second CALIBER Scholars cohort, all of whom are provided with
(1) $25,000 in pilot funding for a one-year research project
(2) Project and Career Mentoring
(3) Support to Enhance Dissemination, including publication and future grant planning
(4) Support for attendance to opening and closing workshops in San Francisco
Process
Selected scholars will present their proposal and receive feedback at an all-team CALIBER meeting in San Francisco in May 2027. Scholars then work with CALIBER leadership and their mentors to refine their proposals prior to release of pilot funds. Scholars receive bi-monthly support throughout the year, followed by a close-out presentation at the subsequent annual CALIBER meeting.
